The Train That Never Arrives

You awaken on a train rattling through an infinite night. Passengers murmur in hushed tones, the windows reveal landscapes that should not exist, and every stop seems to loop back into the same journey. The conductor smiles too widely, and the timetable makes no sense. Will you disembark? Will you wander the endless cars? Or will you ride the tracks forever, deeper into the unknown?

The train rocks gently beneath you. A faint announcement crackles over the intercom in a language you almost understand. A man across the aisle stares, unblinking, while the carriage door slides open by itself.
